Simple Italian Macerated Strawberries

- ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 pints fresh strawberries hulled and quartered
- 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate grated (or to taste)
Prepare the marinade
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the balsamic vinegar, sugar, and freshly ground black pepper until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add the strawberries
Gently stir in the quartered strawberries, making sure they are well-coated with the marinade.Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator to chill for about 10 minutes. This will allow the flavors to blend.
Serve and garnish
Once chilled, take the strawberries out of the fridge. Just before serving, sprinkle the grated unsweetened chocolate over the top. Enjoy immediately!
